Our Story …

We are team “No Joke”. A couple of blokes setting out to have a bit of fun, and help some others on the way. We have set ourselves a goal of completing two charity rallies in 2024. Raising money for a couple of well deserving charities that more than likely will affect us all at one time or another. We have purchased our trusty XF Falcon Ute and fitted it out with the required equipment to hopefully get over the finish line. We still have plenty of work to do and much money to raise.

In August 2024 we are taking part in Mystery Box Rally 24. The rally starts at Airly Beach, Queensland. A trip itself of nearly 2000km. Once there we join other teams, all of us in 25 plus year old cars to complete in a mystery route in a unique 5 day challenge of about 2500km on outback roads, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning. If we are able to finish we will attempt to get the trusty ute the 2000km home.

We all want a cancer free future, and the Cancer Council is the only charity that works across every area of cancer, from research to prevention and support. I lost my father to cancer when he was only 57 years old. I am nearly that age now and that is way too young to die. This is a cause that is very close to my heart and by making a donation you are helping us all into the future.

Every dollar we raise for Cancer Council goes towards helping people who have been affected by cancer. This includes funding life-saving research, prevention programs and support services for anyone affected by cancer.

Please help us reach our goal of $4000 by making a donation today.

Here's what I'm doing …

Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally."

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Mystery Box Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Mystery Box Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

$41 million over the past 13 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

  • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
  • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
  • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
