Our Story …
We are so excited to announce that we're taking part in Mystery Box Rally in 2024!!
Mystery Box Rally is one of the largest community lead fundraising events for Cancer Council in Australia having raised over $7 million in the last 11 years. This rally will have us driving a car that is 25 years or older along outback roads. We will do approximately 2,500kms in 5 days. We set off from Airlie Beach & return to Airlie Beach 5 days later, each day in between is a mystery, we have no idea where we will be headed until just before departure the next morning.
We're rallying up some funds and hitting the road in honor of Sara's awesome mum and my Aunty Karen! Aunty Karen was this quiet hero, always helping people who would never ask. She had a knack for supporting those who didn't want to bug others with their worries. Karen was all about the outdoors, music, cooking, horse racing, adventure, saving animals, and, of course, her family. We lost her suddenly and quickly to lung cancer. She was the glue that kept it all together and has left a massive hole in our family. I know she’ll be cheering us on and probably laughing her head off. So here we go, doing our thing for her and all the other families facing the fight of their lives!
In order for us to participate we need to raise $4,000 and every dollar raised goes to Cancer Council. We would very much appreciate it if you could donate to the cause & help us on our journey!
Here's what I'm doing …
Mystery Box Rally is a 5-day challenge like no other. Participants drive 25+ year old cars along a mystery route, through some of Australia’s most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It’s not a race—it’s a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that’s all part of the fun. The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way. And when the day’s drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day’s achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways—whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we’ll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
